Reborn

Chase the light behind the dream,
Where tales are never what they seem,
Behold the lies,
All hows and whys,
The sound of silent screams.

Run the roads where trav’llers roam,
Explore the paths away home,
Deny the truth,
Ignore the proof,
For sins you may atone.

Lose yourself within the storm,
Take heart when all about forlorn,
Grasp hold the spark,
Unfurl your heart,
Such thoughts will be reborn.

Forbidden Dream

It has been a long time, but I have been lucky enough to work with another talented poet on a collaboration. This one went back and forth, a verse at a time, and we came up with the piece you see below. I hope you like it. Please visit Kat’s blog to read more of her work.

You hugged me in my dream last night,
Warm and protecting, it felt so right.
The night before I couldn’t meet your eyes,
You frowned at me, at my undignified cries.
My weaknesses in my awoken self show desperation for some admission,
Some form of written evidence to rid the numbing of rejection.

You fit my arms so well last night,
I held you so close, I held you so tight.
The night before I got lost in your eyes,
I did not want your protests, I wanted your sighs.
My assurances of your awaking self called delicately for desire,
A way to show you in my deeds that to your passion I aspire.

You softly spoke in my dream last night,
Your voice in my subconscious so consistent.
The night before I felt invisible,
You shrouded me from existence.
Do my words scare you to silence or do they boost your ego from their wanting?
Are you protecting me from your desires? Your ignorance feels so assaulting.

You responded to my words last night,
A sweetly kindled fire slow revealing.
I brought you forth from hiding shadows,
No more to stay in darkness all concealing.
Your craving need expressed with words but skin and flesh speaks message clearer.
The rising heat from untamed lust causes one response; I must be nearer.

You sent waves of electricity through my dream last night,
As your body blanketed mine.
Your imaginary skin glistening with beads of sweat,
As our limbs began to intertwine.
Must you keep on trespassing on my dreams like this and encourage an act so forbidding?
My mind confusing reality and fantasy, creating a bitter heart so unforgiving.

You sparked the charge of dancing fire last night,
As you gave your body to me.
You opened as a flower would bloom,
And showed in deeds what passion should be.
I know no other way of allowing this desire that we know cannot be granted.
So in our dreams I make my intentions clear, with reality supplanted.

You kissed my desperate lips with a purpose last night,
A bitter sweet lasting goodbye.
Many times we’ve rehearsed this scene before,
But this is the last time I want to cry.
You guided me out of the shadows, I can now feel the excruciating pain.
Of no more trying to hold onto a dream, your heart I can never selfishly retain.

You kissed me with your desperate lips last night,
But I also tasted your tears.
The final scene we endlessly live through,
A culmination of our fears.
You granted me a glimpse of heaven, of what we might have been,
But oh alas, this world must win, no more must we live our dream.

Glance

My muse, long absent and much missed, has paid a visit. I hope you like this, as short as it is.

A glimpse, a glance,
The merest chance,
To see your heavens face;
With all the world,
And days unfurled,
Away with dreams I chase.

A doubt, a pause,
An unknown cause
A struggle to accept;
But with a word,
Such beauty heard,
And doubts away are swept.

A smile, a kiss,
The unnamed bliss,
Of what this life may show;
For now my dreams,
Are where you’re seen,
And where your name I know.

Once More

I am really not sure about this one. The whole ‘Once more…’ repeating motif. I read it and it seems to work, but I’m not the best judge of this stuff. Anyway… I hope you like it. Thank you for reading.

Once more down dark and twisting roads,
Once more among the black,
Once more into the nightly fray,
Once more no looking back;

Once more my safety in my hands,
Once more a fear of death,
Once more the swiftly beating heart,
Once more a lack of breath;

Once more the light retreats from me,
Once more the darkness grows,
Once more my voice screams in the night,
Once more no other knows;

Once more my nightmares come for me,
Once more my terror wins,
Once more so lost inside the night,
Once more my fear has wings;

Once more the never ending sleep,
Once more a world in mind,
Once more I fear to never wake,
Once more forever blind;

Once more I wake in early hour,
Once more I’m left to be,
But soon the night returns again,
Once more to torture me.

Hearts Truth

It’s been a while since I managed to create something new, but finally, my muse had helped me birth the following. I hope you like it.

A memory of a memory,
A ghost of faded ghost.
The missing truth of hidden love,
To which my heart plays host.

A fantasy in a fantasy,
A dream within a dream.
The painful truth of stolen love,
In heart no longer seen.

The mystery of a mystery,
The cause of such a cause.
A sudden truth of opened love,
That gives a heart to pause.

Such honesty in honesty,
A tale within a tale.
A welcome truth of new found love,
To which my heart sets sail.

DP : Sleep

I wrote this a while ago, but I wanted to re-post it to take part in the Daily Prompt : “Sleep is one-third of our lives: write a post about it. Do you love naps? Have trouble falling alseep? Wish you could remember your dreams? Remember something especially vivid? Snuggle under a blanket, or throw the windows wide open? Meditate on sleep.”

Once more, ‘pon keeper
Of my darkest dreams do
I lay my head;
O! What screaming
Horror may fly to me
On darkly shaded wings?
’tis not for me the
Gentle arms of Morpheus,
To soothe and soft refresh
From days hard labour;
Nay, resigned am I to
The slow tick of curs-ed clock,
Which scythes away
Minute by minute, hour by
Creeping hour.

Soul To Keep

This one came to me in a heartbeat. I was sat mulling over my creative process and wanting to post something new, when the first line arrived as if by telepathy from some where unknown. Anyway – I hope you like it, short though it is.

A feathered breath that wakes me
From this dark and dreadful sleep,
Where hands of cold and mouldy bones
Hold hard my soul to keep;
To drag me from my nightmare
With such a sweetened kiss,
My demons fail their wicked task
They cannot stand such bliss;
The rising dawn that greets me
With its sun that paints the air,
Cannot but pale when as I wake
Your eyes in light are there;
“Fear not my love”, you tell me
As my heart resumes its beat,
“I will not let the demons win
Your soul they’ll never keep”.
