An Announcement

Dearest readers,
Recently, I have been reading a book by Douglas Coupland called “Life After God”. It is a collection of very short stories, told in, quite often, single paragraphs. They are about life, observations, the feelings and thoughts and emotions of the narrator. I love the style of Douglas Coupland anyway, but these stories have really touched something within me.
So – for the next little while, I’m taking a break from the poetry, and this blog will become a place for me to try this sort of writing. Some posts will be very short, some maybe a little longer, but they will all try and follow the same style and idea of snap-shots of life. Important note – they will all be fictional. I will not be writing about my own life. Some of the things that come out may seem quite sad, or fraught, or painful – but though they may be coloured by my own past (anyone who writes, their words are always shaded by a life that has been lived) they will all be fiction.

So – I do hope those of you who still read this blog stick with me, and find the things I am going to (attempt to) write will hold your interest. I will not be stopping the poetry altogether, for although my poetic muse has taken an extended leave of absence recently, I know she will be back and those words will flow again.

Thank you, whoever you are, for reading this, and for any and all support you’ve given me in the past. Here’s to a new adventure in language and literature.

Much love,

From The Author : Another Quick Update

Hello my dear readers. I wanted to just apologise for not updating for a while again, AND for not visiting all your wonderful blogs as I usually do. I’ve moved house, started a new job, but at the moment I have no internet connection at home, so it’s a bit hard keeping up to date. I’m still around, and I will be back bothering all your blogs again very soon. I will also hopefully be able to post some new material in the next day or so. I hope you are all keeping well, and are happy and satisfied.

Much love,

A Brief Update

I just wanted to apologise for not posting any new pieces recently. I’m in the process of moving house and starting a new job so things are a bit hectic. Hopefully over the next few days things will calm down and fickle inspiration will maybe once again visit me. I hope you and yours are all well.

Much love.

Paper Is Not Dead

Well, I’ve gone and done it. I have produced a book. I know, I know, WTF? right? But it’s here and it’s available on Amazon.
For those of you in the UK – Experimental Fiction: The Poems
For those in other places – Experimental Fiction: The Poems

I may put a version on Kindle too, but I’m still mulling that over. Anyway… that’s all I wanted to say really

A Request From The Author

I don’t normally solicit for ideas etc. but I wanted to post a little request to my wonderful and generous readers.
Have you even considered collaborating with someone on a poem?
Maybe you’ve not ever though about it. Maybe you’re not sure how to do it, or if you’d enjoy it. Maybe you think that (heaven forfend) you wouldn’t have the ability. Well I’d like to ask that, if you do want to try it, then maybe you’d consider working with me.

I’ve had some successful collaborations so far, and what I’ve enjoyed is matching my verse and structure to that of the person who writes the first verse. If you’ve never tried it before, you’ll find it opens up a whole new dimension to your imagination. Well, that’s been the case when I’ve done it.

So have a think about it. Maybe read some of the collaborations I’ve written (you can use the tag ‘Collaboration’ at the top of the site) and see what you think. If you decide that it’s something you’d like to try, drop me an email (using the link on the right, ‘Something To Say’) and we’ll talk about what we could do.

This is a slightly selfish request as I do really enjoy pushing myself with regards to my writing and this is one way I’ve found that tests me. I also enjoy it immensely.

Thanks for reading, and as ever, thanks to each and every one of you who read my blog.

Much love.

A Thank You From The Author

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the wonderful, warm, generous people who have commented with such positivity and encouragement on my blog. As a lot of my regular readers will know, I don’t value my work that much really. Sure, I know I have written one or two that I think “Yes, I like that” but by and large… not so much.
Now, this is not a fishing expedition trying to elicit more kind words and reassurances, it really is just for me to take a moment and thank you ALL, all of you who have told me you like my work. If just one person says they like something I’ve written, it makes me very happy. But to have so many… I am truly humbled. So thank you.

Much love,

A Note From The Author

The observant among you will have noticed I’ve changed the look & feel of the site. The old design was OK, but I felt it was becoming a little tired and dull, so I’ve changed it. What do you think? I feel it gives a cleaner look, but then I’m not an expert on aesthetics so I may be well wide of the mark.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read any dribble I post on this little blog.
