Daily Prompt : Fearful Symmetry

I don’t often do the Daily Prompt challenges, but I thought I’d try this one.
“Fearful Symmetry : Pick a letter, any letter. Now, write a story, poem, or post in which every line starts with that letter.” Hope you like it.

Fearfully I take this chance,
forgetting loves vindictive dance,
finally I come to see that
future promise is there for me.

Freely I accept this heart
frozen once by darkened past
facing up to her request,
falling at her sweet behest.

Fighting off these weakening doubts
for always now she’ll be about,
fantasy in beauty’s form
far away from all the norm.

Fact of love now hits me square
from where it came I’m unaware
fresh and new this heart becomes as
finally I so succumb.

Why do men write poetry? To woo women. Nicely done.

    • Simon says:

Not necessarily… that’s making quite an assumption about my sexuality 🙂

      • vakunzmann says:

Nope, just a quote from Dead Poet’s society. Sorry.

      • Simon says:

Goodness, there I go putting my foot in my mouth again… apologies. I’ve not seen the film, excuse my ignorance! (And you’re right, my poetry is of the male to female ‘wooing’ sort) 🙂

This is beautiful and another testament to your talent.

Fixing a smile on my face 🙂

Couldn’t resit carry on the trend, you write so much about heart break but this one shows the new hope of love 😀 I must confess I am usually drawn to the darker poems you sometimes write but I really enjoyed this one!! 🙂

    • Simon says:

I tend to blow between both ends of the spectrum – love and hope and romance, but also darkness, despair, misery… with the occasional psychotic one thrown in 🙂
As always, thank you so much for reading, and your kind comment 🙂

    First of all congrats.
But I have a question! When you are restricted by rules such as what word you should begin with, and a condition that it should be repeated several times, don’t you think your creativity is smothered?

    • Simon says:

      Thank you.
I think it makes you have to think differently. I wouldn’t say it smothers creativity, more that it encourages you to be creative in a different way.
Thanks for reading, and for taking the time to comment.

Hey! I apologize if I’m being a nuisance, but I’m new here, and I don’t know how to “pingback”. I wanna do this too, but how will I make it a reply to, you know, the challenge? How will I get them to see my post and put it along with all of your guys’ posts?

    • Simon says:

No need to apologise, you’re not a nuisance 🙂
You need to create a link to the daily prompt post in YOUR post. That creates the link in the comments in the daily prompt post. Hope that helps
