The Marble Steps

‘fore watching eyes
we kissed on marble
steps;
cascading with the
rain of summer storm.

We cared not for
our skin so quickly
wet;
knowing soon our sodden
clothes would yet be
shorn.

The jealous eyes
of birds tinged with
regret;
for they will never
feel a kiss so
warm.

The crying sky
that pours its water
yet;
anticipates our
end in love
forlorn.
