Train

Morning shattered by crash
and clatter of metal
wheels on tracks.

Standing peaceful and still
bridge below feet,
breeze a cool force at his back.

Loud rushing through trees
and hedgerows blurred
with urgent speed.

The promise easily made but
quickly broken,
entreaties no longer will he heed.

Iron and steel monster
of calamitous force
and mirrored eyes.

Looking to the tracked horizon
clearly up ahead,
his destiny he now spies.

Hungrily pounding and
devouring ground
dragging the wind.

No more decisions or
choices remain,
just atone for those he’s sinned.
