Faithful Mirror

Faithful mirror
hide from me
thy secrets stole
from within mine
eyes.
For art thou nought
but portal cold
through which
inner soul is
glimpsed?

Faithful mirror
lie to me
and reveal not that
which in truth doth
hurt.
For should not
gleaming surface bright
show nought but
that which
pleases?

Faithful mirror
I beseech thee
offer only kindness
in pictures shown
within.
For frail I am
and in spirit weak
and could not bear
thy brutal
honesty.

Mirrors and camera lenses are two evil beings that will either lie to you outright or tell you the truth with a wink. Beautiful words, though.

That’s kind of where this piece came from. The truth revealed in the pane of mirrored glass, unadorned and unabashed. And don’t get me started on camera lenses!
      And thank you. 🙂
